First Grade

Dear First Grade Students and Families,

My name is Mrs. Natasha Wetzel, and it is with great enthusiasm that I will be your child’s teacher this year.  Because I will be spending a great deal of time with your child, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself.

This is my eleventh year teaching for Adrian Public Schools, and my sixth year teaching at Lincoln. I am very excited to be teaching first grade this year.  I attended Adrian Public Schools for elementary, middle and high school, and then earned my B.A. degree from Siena Heights University in the fall of 2004.  In 2007-2008, I attended Eastern Michigan University and earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I am currently taking courses at Eastern pursuing my Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership. I live in Adrian with my husband; Matt, my daughter, Jaeden, who will be in second grade at Lincoln and my son Braeden, who will be in the young five class at Lincoln, as well.

This year school will begin at 8:40 am, the first bell rings at 8:30 am, the doors will open at 8:10 am for breakfast.  Classes will be dismissed at 3:48 pm.  Please have students line up with their class outside and I will pick them up at 8:30.

I wanted to give you some information about what your child should bring by the end of the first week of school.

  • School Backpack: Please label inside with name (Needed everyday to get important papers and homework between school and home.)
  • Gym Shoes: Gym shoes will remain at school in their locker.
  • Breakfast/Lunch: Under a Federal Grant all students will receive free breakfast and lunch everyday all year.
  • Snack:  We will have two snacks each day one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Please send two snacks with your child daily.
  •  Donations Needed for the Classroom: 24 count Crayola crayons, 8-10 count Crayola washable markers, glue sticks, Elmer's glue bottles, boxes of tissues, zip-lock bags sandwich and gallon size, wet wipes, Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer.  (I have supplied each student with the necessary supplies to begin our year and donations collected will help us replace supplies as the year progresses) Thank you in advance for supporting our learning in Room 101!

If there is a change in after school plans, please send a note in your child’s folder or call the school.  I will be following the directions given to me at open house unless I hear from you.

If at any time you have a question or concern, please don’t hesitate contacting me.  You are welcome to send a note with your child, email me a message, call the office and leave me a message or stop in before or after school.  Lastly, thank you for sharing your child with me this year!

Thanks for your support!
