Letter from the Principal

My name is Shanan Henline and I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal at Prairie Elementary School.  My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past 19 years as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and teacher leader.  In those 19 years, I have spent the past 11 of them at Prairie as a teacher, instructional coach, teacher leader, and parent.  Prairie is home to me and my family!

I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests.  I will celebrate their successes, small and large.  I will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.

Not only am I excited to begin working with your children, but I look forward to the work we will do together.  I am excited to see your children learn and grow each day.  My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy and safe, so they may learn as much as they can.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established at Prairie Elementary School by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners.  We will focus on our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) initiative, Common K-5 aligned curriculum, use data to drive instruction, and provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in a rigorous manner so that we can continue to increase all of the students' achievement.

All of us at Prairie Elementary School are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever.  This year is going to be "Great" as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant and builds relationships.  As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-staff, students, and parents are excited to be here!  This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun and nurturing environment that supports our PBIS program.

There are many ways in which you can participate in school.  Volunteering to work in the classroom, chaperoning field trips, becoming a member of our PTO, and assisting with many activities, are just a few things that you can do to make a difference.

As part of my regular routine once school begins, you will find me out and about on campus during morning arrivals, afternoon dismissals, and throughout the day.  I look forward to the opportunity to meet and begin my relationship with the students, staff, and families of the Prairie Elementary School community.  I can be reached via email at shenline@adrian.k12.mi.us, phone at 517-265-5082, or just stop by to introduce yourself any time as my door is always open to you!

Mrs. Henline
