Letter from the Principal

Prairie Elementary School has always strived to create a safe and stimulating learning environment for all students. Our Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS) Program is off and running. The continued focus of this program is to create a positive school climate that fosters Prairie PRIDE:  PRODUCTIVITY, RESPECT, INTEGRITY, DETERMINATION, AND EXCELLENCE.

The students will continue to learn about PBIS as we continue to acknowledge the positive behavior from our students daily.  Students are recognized in their classrooms daily for showing Prairie Pride and receive Prairie Pride Tickets along with other special acknowledgments. Students are recognized by their teachers each week for the Prairie Principal's Table. Students also get Positive Referral of the Week from their teachers and Mrs. Henline makes positive phone call home acknowledging their positive behavior.  We are doing a school-wide Prairie Principal's 200 Club where members are recognized each week again for showing positive behavior.  Our FIRST School-wide Party is in November as we will celebrate our positive behaviors in partnership with Faith Baptist Church as they will be bringing their bounce house and cotton candy machine along with providing volunteers to help support our party.

Our first trimester is well underway and students have been working hard in their classrooms on academics.  As a school, we continue to offer programs throughout to help support the needs of all students.  We will continue to concentrate on offering meaningful interventions for students  who are below grade level while continuing to accelerate our advanced learners.  Such interventions or opportunities may be one on one and/or small group instruction in the classroom, pull-out reading support, before or after school programming and materials to support and enhance at home learning.

Much work is being done to ensure the success of all of our students. Family involvement is very important and we invite you to continue to be actively involved in your child’s education.   One way to help support your child at home is to continue to work with your child on his/her homework.  Ensure that your child reads every night for at least 10-20 minutes depending on their age and complete their reading log.  Your child should have a regular study place and time to do his/her reading/work.

Mrs. Henline
