The Mackinaw Center for Public Policy ranked Adrian High School as the 8th top gainer in academic performance in Michigan with the recent release of the Michigan Public High School Context and Performance (CAP) Report. This is a school level assessment of academic performance based on a four year average of state standardized test scores. The report card is unique because it takes into account at-risk factors when measuring school performance.
Of the 519 schools that were compared from both 2012 and 2016:
In 2012 Adrian High School was ranked at 21.19%
In 2016 Adrian High School was ranked at 76.11%
The dramatic gain of 54.91% is evidence of the commitment of the entire APS community on a solid academic program for our students.
Using only this year's 639 High Schools measures, Adrian High School Ranks 160th out of 639 Michigan High Schools earning a Grade of a B using the matrix of the report. Adrian was the second highest ranked district in the county.

At last night’s Board of Education meeting the retirement of Deb Risner, principal of Michener Elementary was announced. Mrs. Risner has served in a variety of roles across the district from elementary to high school and as both a teacher and administrator. The search process will begin March 1st with the interviews and selection process to conclude by mid-April.
The Board of Education also came one step closer to officially naming the AHS court yard after AHS Alumni and former AHS biology Teacher Joe Pullen. The support from the APS community for this dedication has been extremely positive. The recommendation will go for final approval at the February 27th Board of Education meeting. The associated improvements within the courtyard align with Joe’s passion for outdoor learning experiences.
Just as a reminder, the Maples Blues Blast will take place on February 25th at Adrian College’s Tobias Room starting at 6:00pm. Please contact the Adrian Schools Educational Foundation for Tickets at 517-263-9111 before Friday morning for tickets.
Have a great weekend and as always, Go MAPLES!!!
