Dear APS Parents,

Adrian Public Schools is in the midst of dramatic changes and the excitement is incredible.  Every week we continue to move forward in providing the highest quality education for our students driven by a bold vision of the future of our school district.  As a result, we continue to celebrate success at both the state and local levels.

Yesterday, the Adrian Public Schools Board of Education approved the purchase of iPads for all students and staff members at Adrian High School.  The purchase is funded by the School Improvement Grant and will provide a personal iPad for every student at Adrian High School to use in their classes.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to take the device home if they pay a $40 annual insurance charge.  This is incredibly exciting for students at AHS.  To make this initiative more impressive, we are working with professional programmers to write a custom “app” for Adrian Public Schools and should have it fully functional by spring.

The celebration continues throughout the district and we are thankful that you chose APS for your child(ren).  Below are a few quick snippets of other points of pride at APS:

  • Bridge Magazine ranked APS in the top 21% of all Michigan school districts in the Academic State Champs rankings.
  • The State Superintendent, Dr. Mike Flanagan, recognized the amazing work at APS during his keynote speech at the Michigan Association of School Administrators conference.
  • MEAP scores (which are not yet publicly released) indicate incredible improvements and growth.  Specifically, most grade levels increased by double-digits and we continue to outpace state and county growth.
  • Early indicators of enrollment show a significant increase in students since the fall.
  • New technology is being purchased for other grade levels throughout the district.

Thank you for sharing in this excitement at APS and look forward to many years of continued success.

Sincerely,

Christopher J. Timmis, Ed.D.
