CurriculumA Challenging CurriculumAdrian Public Schools K-12 curriculum is effectively aligned to state model curriculum recommendations. A strong academic program has been created and works as the foundation of the well-rounded curriculum. Courses provide challenge and enrichment to satisfy diverse student needs and assist students in discovering and developing their individual goals in life. All curriculum content areas are assessed in an ongoing, annual process to remain as current as possible and to ensure the effective delivery of teaching and learning. An interdisciplinary curriculum in which all content areas integrate with one another is a common goal. The ultimate outcome is to create multiple learning environments that connect schooling to real life and the world of work applications. There are several intervention programs that help at-risk students. Read 180, Carnegie Cognative Learning and NovaNet are three that are used at the high school level. Students are assessed at early ages, and placed on a path for success. Non-fiction writing is taught across all grade levels, across the curriculum. As an IB candidate school, Adrian High School will have a new course of study for students wishing to go beyond the traditional curriculum. Adrian Public Schools is led by a tremendously talented and knowledgeable staff of over 275 professionals. Over one-third of those professionals possess a masters degree plus with several having Specialist or Ph.D. degrees. |
