Grand Piano Fund Drive![]() ![]() ![]() “Is that the kind of piano that the top comes off?”* That was the first question out of the mouth of a first grader at Michener School when music teacher Laurie Cunningham told the students that we were working to purchase a grand piano for the APS Performing Arts Center. Laurie then explained what a grand piano was and the importance it is to students learning to perform instrumental and vocal music. With the commitment of the community to support the arts at APS, obtaining a Steinway Grand is the next step in making our performance experience complete – for all ages. Having a grand on our stage will: • Allow students to perform at a higher level. • Give APS the chance to host regional and possibly even state instrumental and vocal competitions • Entice professional concert artists to use our stage as a venue for community performances that will give students the opportunity to attend a performance that they might not otherwise have. With an instrument that can last well over 100 years, we will be impacting many generations of students and community members with the purchase of a Steinway Grand Piano. All our students will be either playing the piano, singing with it or listening to it during a concert performance. Your support of the “Isn’t it Grand” campaign is enthusiastically anticipated and genuinely needed. In these times of economic uncertainty for our public schools, Adrian stands tall as a leader in the arts and the experiences we can offer to our students and as partners in the community. *After Laurie's discussion regarding the piano, our little first grader, concluded, “I’m going to play that grand someday!” We will make these dreams come true. Do you know the parts of a piano? This brochure shows the giving levels and available piano parts you can sponsor.
